Bio

Sam Knight is a British saxophonist, composer, and educator whose work blends the tradition and history of jazz with his love of choral, classical, and pop music from his formative years. His playing is rooted in the expressive and improvisational spirit of jazz while embracing a melodic sensibility shaped by a wide palette of influences.

A graduate of the Guildhall School of Music & Drama (BMus, 1st Class), Sam is currently pursuing his Master’s degree at the Berklee Global Jazz Institute on a full scholarship, where he has studied with and received mentorship from leading artists including George Garzone, John Patitucci, Joe Lovano, Danilo Pérez, Antonio Sánchez, JD Allen, Francisco Mela, Nadia Washington, Chase Morrin, and Ben Street. These experiences continue to shape his artistry and musical vision.

Sam’s debut album, Knight Life (AMP Records, 2023), featuring Seamus Blake, established him as a distinctive voice in contemporary jazz. Since 2018, he has toured extensively across the UK and Europe with flautist and vocalist Mária Reháková, performing in festivals and concert halls and cultivating an ongoing trans-Atlantic collaboration that bridges jazz and European folk traditions.
